Ritchie County High School football field open in the early 1990's after consolidation of the high schools in the county. The stadium used help from volunteers to complete the construction of the stadium. Ritchie County named the stadium after the late Chuck Schofield ho lost his life playing Ritchie County football. To this day his legacy is honored on the field. Ritchie County has hosted playoff games most recently being in the 2013 season hosting a second round playoff game.
