Originally called Municipal Stadium in 1936. Changed to Mitchell Stadium in 1950 after the death of George Mitchell, former city manager, who secured funding and oversaw the building of the stadium. Synthetic turf installed in Summer 2007. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corp. (CCC)
